TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS


The Amazon River is located in South America. It runs through Guyana, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru.


The length of the Amazon River is approximately 6400 kilometres (4000 miles).

During the wet season, the Amazon River can reach over 190 kilometres (120 miles) in width.

The largest city along the Amazon River is Manaus. Located in Brazil it is home to over 1.7 million people.
There are over 3000 known species of fish that live in the Amazon River, with more constantly being discovered.
Anacondas lurk in the shallow waters of the Amazon Basin, they are one of the largest snakes in the world and occasionally attack larger animals such as goats that get to close the water.
The Amazon River is also home to the piranha, a meat eating type of fish! Being carnivores, piranhas are known to attack in groups, preying on livestock that strays into the water and possibly appearing in one or two of your own nightmares!
At its widest point the Amazon River can be 11km/6.8 mi wide during the dry season. The area covered by the Amazon River and its tributaries more than triples over the course of a year. In an average dry season 110,000 square km of land are water-covered, while in the wet season the flooded area of the Amazon Basin rises to 350,000 square km. When the flood plains and the Amazon River Basin flood during the rainy season the Amazon River can be up to 40km/24.8 mi wide. Where the Amazon opens at its estuary the river is over 325km/202 mi wide!

Religion: In the Amazon there are many tribes and many other discoveries that have no communication with the outside world. The Amazon is the longest river in the world but also a tale forest, the Amazon jungle in the jungle where indigenous tribes month there. Each tribe has beliefs and customs.

River Ganges

The Ganges River is probably the most sacred in the world. There is a belief that says depositing its waters between the ashes of a corpse avoids the cycle of rebirths. On its shores are bathed every day millions of people who rely on expiate some sin or simply meditate and purify according to Hindu tradition.
